Export Solutions is pleased to welcome Jim McShane to our growing team of trade compliance experts. Jim will serve as a Sr. Consultant, Trade Compliance, and will be responsible for providing expert advice, consultation and services to our clients.
With more than 30 years of international trade compliance expertise, Jim brings a variety of skills and a vast knowledge base to the Export Solutions team. Early in his career, Jim served with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), conducting specialized investigative assignments in export control regulations. For five years, Jim acted as Senior Advisor to the Director of the U.S. Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC). In this capacity, Jim investigated company violations, drafted Proposed Charging Letters and assisted in the negotiations of Draft Consent Agreements. He also planned, designed and monitored the execution of corrective action plans for companies with export compliance violations.
Jim has twice been nominated and approved as a Special Compliance Official pursuant to two separate Consent Agreements between the Department of State and multi-national corporations. For eight years, he served as the Global Director of Export Compliance for a multinational group of companies headquartered in Paris, France.
Throughout his extensive career, Jim has specialized in assisting companies in developing, implementing and maintaining effective trade compliance programs by strategizing across government and corporate functions to create the best environments for compliance success. He is adept at conducting compliance audits, developing and implementing training, and designing compliance systems with a focus on due diligence, among other things.
Having worked and lived for so many years in an international arena (specifically in Asia and Europe), Jim has developed a comprehensive knowledge of other countries’ Export Compliance regulations and requirements
A graduate of St. Francis College, Jim lives in Vero Beach, Florida.
